Telecom NZ have suffered much controversy in recent times over business practices that may be great for the Telecom shareholders and yet have cost the New Zealand public dearly. The government has recently stepped in and put pressure on the company to unbundle the telecommunication services. New Zealand has gone from a country leading with internet technologies to one now that is slipping behind due to substandard technology. This has been exhibited in the costs that New Zealand residents have been paying for long distance call services.
