Auckland
Auckland City has a population of around one million. The airport is located at Mangere, 21 km from central Auckland. It is a about a 30 minute taxi/shuttle ride. From Auckland it is about a two hour drive north to Whangarei (169km) or four and three quarter hours to Taupo (278km). Wellington is at the other end of the North Island of New Zealand and is about 8 hours driving (658km).
The major industry in Auckland is manufacturing, distribution and port related activity, tourism, IT, retail, horticulture and intensive agriculture is found in the surrounding area.
You will find a full range of accommodation. Most of the major international hotels are found in the city centre and some are also represented around the airport at Mangere. Around Parnell, Remuera and Devonport you will find bed and breakfasts and historic homestays. There are a vast selection of inner and outer suburb motels, motor inns and hotels around the city.
