There are more than 400 golf courses throughout New Zealand. Greeen fees start from about US$10 and the average for the better golf courses is in the range US$18 to US$40. New Zealand is an inexpensive country for golf and you will not always receive the luxury you may be used to. During the December to April (summer) period, many courses have dry fairways, the greens are normally of a good to high standard all year.

New higher class courses are being built on a regular basis and the standard of facilities in these courses is raising the New Zealand Golf Course standard. The acceptable dress standards vary between clubs. Jeans are generally not permitted at the more presigious courses and golf shoes must be worn. It may pay you to check on dress codes before arriving at the golf course to play.
